FAQ
Frequently asked questions
No — EscrowPay works entirely through WhatsApp. Sellers message EscrowPay directly on WhatsApp. Buyers open a web link to pay. No app download, no account creation, no new passwords to remember.
Once a buyer pays through your EscrowPay link, the funds are held securely — they cannot be reversed by the buyer. You dispatch your item knowing the money is locked in. When the buyer confirms receipt, or if they go silent past the agreed delivery window, EscrowPay automatically releases your funds. Fake transfer receipts are impossible because payment is confirmed directly by our payment processor.
Your money is held in escrow — not paid to the seller — until you confirm you have received your item in the agreed condition. If something goes wrong, tap the dispute button in your WhatsApp chat before the auto-release window closes. (This feature goes live at launch on 26 June 2026.) Our trained dispute agents review the evidence from both sides and issue a fair resolution within 2 hours.
EscrowPay has an automatic release timer. If the buyer receives their item but does not confirm within the agreed window (4 hours for same-city, 72 hours for interstate, 120 hours for long distance), the funds are automatically released to the seller. Buyers can request a one-time 48-hour extension if they need more time.
As soon as the buyer confirms delivery or auto-release fires, EscrowPay initiates your bank transfer. Funds typically arrive within minutes to hours depending on your bank. The 1.75% escrow fee is deducted at the point of release — you receive the net amount directly to your registered bank account.
Yes — buyers in the UK, US, Canada, Europe or anywhere in the world can use EscrowPay provided they have a Nigerian bank account. All payments are made via Nigerian bank transfer. The transaction is denominated in Nigerian Naira (NGN). Delivery is to a Nigerian address and the same escrow protection and dispute resolution applies. The processing fee is 2.3% — the same as Nigerian buyers.
Yes — all buyers and sellers complete NIN and date of birth verification before creating their first transaction. This is done entirely in WhatsApp — you enter your NIN and date of birth and EscrowPay verifies in real time. Verification takes under a minute. This protects buyers and ensures sellers can receive payouts to their registered bank account.
EscrowPay processes transactions from ₦20,000 to ₦3,000,000 per transaction. This covers the full range of informal Nigerian e-commerce — from a ₦20,000 accessories sale to a ₦3,000,000 electronics purchase.
The buyer raises a dispute by tapping the dispute button in their WhatsApp chat before the auto-release window closes. (This feature goes live at launch on 26 June 2026.) A trained dispute agent is assigned within 2 hours. Both the buyer and seller submit their evidence — photos, WhatsApp conversations, tracking references. The agent reviews everything and issues a binding resolution. Funds are either released to the seller, refunded to the buyer, or split depending on the outcome.
EscrowPay is operated by EscrowLink Technologies Limited, a company registered in the Federal Republic of Nigeria (RC: 9473181) under the Companies and Allied Matters Act. All payments are processed through Rubies MicroFinance Bank, a CBN-licensed institution. Rubies MicroFinance Bank is licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria and all deposits are insured by the NDIC.
